Boundless diversity
Automation knows hardly any limits. Nor do the possibilities offered by the reliable Gilgen automatic doors. The innovative sliding doors optimise obstacle-free passage from one room to another. Gilgen Door Systems combines individual design options with outstanding functionality. Aspects as safety, hygiene, aesthetics and comfort are also taken into account.
Gilgen Door Systems automatic sliding doors have been used successfully for years in many sectors and in a wide variety of building types. Whether in the healthcare sector, the retail trade, the office or even in residential buildings: the reliable, high-quality doors meet all requirements.
First, we distinguish between two characteristics: door profiles and functions. The profiles define the appearance and how well they fit in with the architecture or design. Of course, profiles can also contribute to insulation or security. With a profile, we then distinguish, for example, whether it is an all-glass or fine-framed solution. This means that significantly more glass is used, or, at the other extreme, solid metal profiles. The functions of a sliding door then define its intended use. If the sliding doors form the outer boundary of the building, burglary protection or, more correctly, burglary resistance is often required. If a sliding door is used inside a building, it should function as quietly and reliably as possible so that people can pass through the sliding doors without delay.
Sliding doors currently run on rollers on a track, with the weight of the door leaves suspended. The door leaf rollers are hooked onto the track, and the rollers thus bear the main weight. A corresponding floor guide is often added so that the door leaves run in an ideal track, contributing to smooth opening and closing. The automatic sliding door has a motor, control system, power supply, and drive unit (V-belt). The motor, drive, and control system offer numerous advantages when combined.
- Door automation helps to significantly reduce the loss of building heat by closing quickly.
- In the event of a fire, the doors open automatically and assist with evacuation.
- In terms of hygiene, the automatic opening and closing of the sliding door greatly reduces contact and the surface area exposed to germs.
The primary purpose of maintenance or servicing is to extend the service life of your door system. There are certain service cycles, or minimum maintenance packages, based on many years of experience. Depending on the manufacturer, a minimum of 1 to 2 services per year is recommended. If your door system is serviced annually, it can last from 20 to 30 years. Of course, there are certain low-cost wear parts that need to be replaced during this period. It is also recommended that the system be modernized after 15 or 20 years in order to maintain the original investment value. After modernization, the system can be operated for another 20 years.
Currently, most sliding doors offer minimal security (RC 1 N) to prevent unwanted intrusion into a building. If a burglar has the necessary tools, a door needs to have correctly designated burglar-resistant properties or functions. Various levels of burglary resistance have even been defined for this purpose. These are classified according to the English term Resistance Class from RC 1 to RC 6. If such burglary resistance is important to you, you should ensure that the solution or door system has the appropriate certification for the relevant level.
